Wednesday morning, around 10 am, it started pouring down rain. For the first 10 or 20 minutes, the skies turned gray, and the trees looked as if they would fly away. It continued to drizzle for the next few hours. It wasn't until the afternoon that I noticed the insane amount of snails everywhere.
Though I've lived here for months, this was the first time I had seen any of these snails. The first one I saw was a white one on the handle of the bridge above the pool. Later as I was working in the bedroom, Garrett rushed in and pointed out the window at what I had thought was just a fallen leaf but ended up being a massive snail! π I ran out to take some photos with my phone when I realized I had a whole camera to take some higher-quality photos! I ran back inside, grabbed my camera, and decided to use the 35mm so I could get REALLY close (macro distance).
I must have taken over 250 photos of these slugs in 4 different sessions. This was the first true instance of inspiration I've felt since moving here. When I went to a popular cave up north, I was more so just going through the motions. I brought my camera and started taking photos because it felt like the right thing to do. However, with these snails, I was actually excited to pick up my camera and take photos. If I only take photos when I'm "feeling inspired," that might be 1 or 2 times a month, so this was a good sign that I should get more active and involved with my photography sessions.
