From 1998-2002, Morgan kept an online diary for her fans. We've compiled all of the old entires here.
Hi everyone:
I'd better write now because January is going to be a very busy month for me.
I hope everyone is enjoying their best "Holiday Season" ever. Thanks to all who sent me cards and gifts for Christmas. It really made my Christmas special. My family and I went to a "Christmas Eve Outreach" at our church. We sang carols and had a candlelight service. It was beautiful. Then everyone (2000+) piled into cars and handed out donuts and candy to people that had to work on Christmas Eve (eg.---police stations, fire halls, hospitals, grocery stores, fast food restaurants, etc.). The purpose of this outreach was to show God's love in a practical way. It was amazing how good it made people feel. After all, nobody wants to work on Christmas Eve.
I got a puppy for Christmas. She is a 6 week old chocolate Lab. I named her Holly. My brother Dustin's "big" gift was an electric guitar. I'm not sure which is more of a sacrifice for my parents---helping housebreak the puppy or listening to the electric guitar.
Right before Christmas, I had the opportunity to run the Olympic Torch and take it around to the children at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. It was a very "touching" experience. The torch is really beautiful. There is so much meaning and history accompanying it that it was just an honor having it in my possession for a few hours. But, the most special part of the event was to spend time with the children and their families in the hospital. They have such a wonderful spirit---what an example of dealing with adversity and living life the children display.
A new Corvette is displayed in designated cities preceeding the Torch's arrival. A few athletes and dignitaries are asked to sign the car at each stop. I was asked to sign it at the stop in the Cincinnati area. That was really cool. By the time the car gets to Salt Lake City, it will be covered with autographs. It will be auctioned off on "e-bay" after the Olympics.
Well, it's been 3 1/2 months since my surgery. I am taking my rehab and comeback slowly. I don't want to risk another injury. I am able to run, leap, jump and do one armed tumbling (tumble track). In a few weeks, I can add controlled handstands and hanging. Then, 4 weeks after that, I can go full out. So, by the end of February I can do full training. My plan is to compete at the "US Classic" and "Championships" on all four events. I'm getting very anxious to get back into competition.
I've several appearances planned for January. I'll be at the "Twistars" meet on the 12th (Michigan), the "Teddy Bear Invite" on the 19th (Coulmbus Gymnastics in Indiana) and Kim (Zmeskal) and Chris Burdette's grand opening on the 20th. Kim and Chris are also having Shannon and Tasha at their opening, so it should be a LOT of fun. Then on the 23rd, I'm going to Reno to stay with Nancy Roach a few days while she choreographs a new floor routine for me. I can't wait to have her do a routine for me. She is such an awesome choreographer.
I'd better go for now. I hope you all had a great 2001 and I know 2002 will be even greater. Stay positive and focused on your dream. Happy New Year!!!
Morgan
P.S.--"Don't let anything slow you down." A quote from a book Mary Lee gave me called "Picabo--Nothing To Hide". It's about Olympic Skier Picabo Street.
Hi Everyone:
It seems like I'm always apologizing for not writing. Let me just say, I'll try to write more often.
It was really nice hearing from so many of you after "Championships". It felt good getting back into competition, even though the results were not exactly what I wanted. I'll be ready for the upcoming season.
I had another surgery on my shoulder about 6 1/2 weeks ago. I was so upset because I was so close to being meet-ready. I just rushed my recovery too much, but I wanted to compete at "Championships". This time I'm doing a lot more cardio and a lot more therapy. I'll start training right after Thanksgiving. I'm counting down the days. The most upsetting thing was I had to pull out of the "DTB Cup" and "Reese's Cup". I really wanted to compete at "DTB" against some of the world's best gymnasts, and "Reese's Cup" is such a fun meet.
I leave real early tomorrow (Thursday) to attend the "2004 Olympic Summit" in Santa Barbara, California. This is the first of three Olympic Summits to be held before the "2004 Summer Olympics". The USOC invited past Olympians training for 2004. I'll return home Sunday.
I've got a few appearances coming up in the next few months. On December 15th and 16th, I'll be at "The Cup" in Cincinnati, and on January 12th, I'll be in Michigan at a meet hosted by Twistars. If I can work it into my training schedule, I'll be at a meet in Port Charlotte, Florida in February.
I'd better start packing. I want to thank all of you for your support. See you soon.
Morgan

Hi Everyone:
Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. As most of you know by now, six weeks ago I had surgery on my left shoulder. Everything went well. I've been in the gym the normal hours conditioning. I have therapy three times a week, but the therapy should start getting really intense in the next few weeks. I see my surgeon on the 23rd and decisions will be made as far as when I can start running and jumping. I can't wait until I'm able to start full training.
Since I last talked to you I've made two appearances at gyms in Indiana (Columbus Gymnastics) and Wisconsin (Salto Gymnastics). They were a lot of fun, and I met a lot of talented young gymnasts.
I recently appeared at "HealthSouth's Go For It Road Show" in Cleveland. It was really cool. There were a lot of guests and performers there. A few of the guests were Bo Jackson, Hershel Walker, Miss Alabama and a Gold Medalist in diving. If you would like to know more about the show, the website address is www.goforitroadshow.com.
On the 26th, I will be the "Keynote" speaker at a luncheon for "Take Your Children To Work Day." That should be a lot of fun. I've already done a radio interview for the event, and I really enjoyed that. Also, I was selected "Female Athlete of the Year" by the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky March of Dimes. This is really an unbelievable honor. The banquet is in July.
Mary Lee and Rachel went to San Francisco for a little vacation. While Mary Lee is gone, Kim has been here coaching the elites. She's a really good coach. She and I went to lunch yesterday at Friday's. It was really nice to be able to sit down with her and have a nice, relaxed visit. I've really missed her.
By the way, Sammy and Haiya passed their compulsory testing last week. Congratulations.
On Wednesday, my parents, Dustin and I will be leaving for the "NCAA Gymnastics Championships" in Athens, Georgia. I've been trying to follow college gymnastics this year, since I know so many of the girls. It will be really cool seeing some of them compete next week.
I'd better go for now. Mom is getting our Easter Dinner ready, and I think she could use some help. Happy Holidays to all of you. Remember, On the road to your dreams there will be many detours. Enjoy the scenery. You may never pass that way again.

Hi Everyone:
We just finished the "Tour" yesterday, and now we're in Orlando to prepare for the "Rock "N Roll Challenge". They have decided to drop "Floor Wars" for the old name. It will be tomorrow night (Dec. 6th). It's been difficult trying to choreograph two floor routines while also doing the tour. Cindy Prokana, a friend of my mother, designed one of my outfits. She also designed Shannon's and Svetlana's costumes. I'm not sure if she designed any others. Cindy also designed the "Grease" costumes the girls used at the "Reese's Cup". I will be using Michael Jackson music on one floor routine and Queen on the other. It's going to be a lot of fun. The show will be televised at a later date. The day after the show, Amy and I fly to Pennsylvania do a GK shoot and then it's home to see my family and get ready for Christmas.
The "Tour" was so much fun. Except for flying to the last two stops, we took a bus to each event. It was not your typical bus. We had all the comforts of home---TV, beds, refrigerator, VCR, etc. There were three buses. One for the guys, the girls and the crew. Some of us did some sightseeing when we had the opportunity. We saw Mt. Rushmore, a Broadway play in New York City, the Mall of America in Minnesota and a bunch of wonderful cities. I got a chance to get to know everyone participating in the "Tour" a lot better. Dom and I roomed together. Even though we all spent off-time together, Jessica, Amy, Shannon and I spent a lot of our time together. They're really nice people. My only regret is that we were so rushed at the end of each show and could never get to everybody to sign autographs. I did get to see relatives, friends and some old coaches at different stops. I got to see two of my best friends--Stephanie from Tampa and Shannon from Miami. I even got to spend some time with my very first coach (Diana) from Tampa, Florida. We had a few days of in Greensboro because of Thanksgiving, and my parents and Dustin drove down to spend a few days together. That was really neat. Dustin got to participate in the "Special Olympics" portion of the show in Cincinnati and Indianapolis. He loved it. He was going to participate in Greensboro, but we decided to just sit in the audience and watch.
After I get home, Mary Lee and I are going to take workouts a little easier until after Christmas. Then, after the first of the year, we'll start working on my routines to upgrade them to the new code. I don't want to workout by myself, so I'll be working out (at least some of the time) with Haiya Rodriguez and Sam Sheehan. Last month, Sam was moved up to the Junior International level at the camp at Bela's.
Congratulations to Erin Kelly for being the first winner of my "Special Hello" monthly contest. Erin, my parents put your prize in the mail today. You should be receiving it within the next few days. Thanks for writing.
Well, I'd better go. Remember, strive for your goals and dreams today. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. I appreciate all of you.

October 5, 2000
Hi Everyone:
The first thing I want to say is "thank you" to all of you for your support. I always knew that many of you were exceptionally caring people, but I didn't know there were so many of you out there. Your caring and concern has been so uplifting for me. Thank you so much.
One of my biggest dreams was to make the Olympic Team and compete in the Olympics. I was fortunate enough to realize at least part of that dream. Once in Sydney, the pain in my foot became so incredibly intense I just couldn't continue. Throughout the workouts at Bela's camp and in Sydney, the pain continued to increase. Once I made the decision I couldn't compete, we discovered the fracture in my left foot. I must admit I was devastated. I wanted so much to walk out on the Olympic floor representing the USA and help the team win some medals. Even though the team didn't win any medals, I am totally proud to be associated with the other seven girls on the Olympic team. They were so dedicated and determined to work everyday to reach their goals, even though many of them had to work through injuries that might have sidelined others less dedicated. The coaches and Bela were no less dedicated to our success. I thank them all for the opportunity to represent the United States.
When I made the decision to leave Sydney early, I made that decision based upon the fact that I couldn't be on the floor to give support to the team during the competition. I would have to sit on the side and watch the girls practice. I really felt that could become a negative for the team, and in all honesty, it would have been quite negative for me to watch knowing I couldn't contribute to the team. My family hadn't arrived in Sydney, so I decided to go home to be with them. It was the right thing for me, and I think it was the correct thing to do for the team. Before I left Sydney, I got the opportunity to play tourist. I went shopping and got to see a lot of Sydney. The Australian people have every right to be proud of Sydney and the Olympic feeling they created. Of all the cities I've been to so far, Sydney is the most beautiful.
My parents rented a luxury cabin in the mountains of North Georgia where we could go to relax as soon as I got home. The only problem was when I arrived in Los Angeles, my connecting flight to Chicago was delayed. In fact, it was going to be delayed so long that I would miss my flight out of Chicago to Cincinnati. After many phone conversations between my mom and airline officials, I finally was switched over to a flight to Atlanta. My Uncle Jim and Aunt Jodi live in the Atlanta area and were able to pick me up. My parents and Dustin drove down the next morning. It all worked out fine because I was able to catch up on my sleep while my parents were driving down to pick me up.
The stay at the cabin was really cool. To call where we stayed a "cabin" would not do the place justice. It was a three level cabin with a hot tub on the deck. From the deck you could look out and see Tennessee and North Carolina. There was a pool table, electronic dart board and jukebox on the lower level. Dustin and I played pool every day. We had a great time, and it was nice to just get away for a while. We went on a scenic train ride, shopped and just drove through the countryside. Of course, we watched the Olympics on TV. It was hard at first, but I just had to watch. We had Mary Lee call to give us the results before we watched. We got a chance to visit with my Uncle Dean and Aunt Susan and my cousins Alex and Preston. We also went to Jim and Jodi's home in the mountains to visit with other relatives and watch the Gators beat Tennessee on TV. The whole time was incredibly fun and relaxing. My dad says we're going to do this every year. I can't wait until next year.
It was nice to get home to see my pets. When I got home I started mild workouts. I continued wearing my "boot" and wore tennis shoes while working out. My foot is healing just fine, and I've started regular workouts.
Last weekend my older brother, Dylan, his girlfriend, Amity, and I went to King's Island. I love roller coasters, and King's Island has some of the best. I did get on one ride called the "Drop Zone", and I'm pretty sure I won't be getting on it again anytime too soon. We had a really good time.
Mary Lee and I leave in a few hours for Reno. We have five days of practice before the tour begins. I'm going to just enjoy the whole experience. After the tour I'll get back into the gym and work on new routines that will fit with the new code.
Well, I've got to go. Again, thank you for all the letters, flowers, and gifts. I do really appreciate everything. Courtney Phillips sent me a nice quote. "Go for your dreams and reach for that farthest star. When you catch that star is when your dream will come true."
Morgan
PS-----I forgot to tell you I cut my hair really short. If you go to see the tour or watch on TV, you'll notice. I like it a lot. Hope you do too.

Hi Everyone:
Well, it's been a REALLY long time since I've written you. Sorry, but it's been really hectic. I just got back from Mary Lee's house. Sierra, Jen and Mary Lee had a "Going Away Party" (to Championships) for Dom, Alyssa and me. It was really cool. We grilled out and got a lot of gifts and cards from the people that attended the party. The "National Elites" and some associates of the gym were at the party. A really funny thing happened at the party. Mary Lee has a tradition before "Championships." She buys balloons for all the girls competing. On the string attached to the "Good Luck" balloon, she attaches all the positive things about the gymnast, and gives it to her. On a black balloon, she attaches the gymnasts fears and goes out in the back yard and releases the balloon to float away along with all the fears. When I released my balloon, it got stuck in a tree in the neighbors yard. Mary Lee told Terry we had to get the balloon down or "Morgan won't sleep all night" knowing the balloon with her fears is stuck in the tree. Terry threw a football at the balloon numerous times but had no luck. He decided to get the swimming pool skimmer (net) and throw it at the balloon. Needless to say, it got stuck in the tree. I kept telling him it was OK--to just leave it, but he said he was going to stay there all night if he had to to get the balloon out of that tree. He went into the neighbors yard and climbed up on the railing of their deck and started getting into the tree and shaking it as he went along. It finally released into the air. You probably had to be there, but it was so funny. We all laughed so much.
Before the party my dad, mom, Dustin and I went to a Cincinnati Reds baseball game. They were playing the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Reds won 5-3. It's the first baseball game I've attended. It was so much fun. We had seats behind home plate about 19 rows up.
I've seen a bunch of movies since I last wrote to you. The ones I remember the most are "The Perfect Storm," "The Patriot" and "U571." I really liked all three of them. I rented "The Green Mile" and liked it a lot. My dad has always told me about "Rain Man." so we rented it and it was great. Dustin Hoffman was so good in that movie. I've found someone who might be as good looking as Brad Pitt. His name is Heath Ledger. He was in "The Patriot." He's a hunk.
My Grandma and Grandpa White were just here for a short visit. They drove up from Florida. They arrived last Sunday and left Thursday. They weren't going to "Championships"---choosing to watch it on TV, but my grandma really wanted to go to St. Louis. Grandpa said she should go, so my dad got on the computer and found her airplane tickets to St. Louis. Grandpa doesn't like to fly. Grandma then got on the phone and got two relatives in Oklahoma and one in Missouri to go. Grandpa then said he had to go, and we booked tickets for him. I'm so excited that they all can go.
I've had my birthday since I last talked to you. I received so many nice gifts and cards from my fans. I would mention your names, but I don't want to forget anyone, so I'll just say "thank you so much." You people are incredible. I hope I get a chance to meet some of you this weekend and see some of you again. My family and I went to the Newport Aquarium (in Newport, Kentucky) and ate at the Rock Bottom Brewery to celebrate.
Finally, we've been working really hard in the gym. We've had quite a few "mock" meets. I know it will help when it's time to compete for real. We leave tomorrow (Monday) for St. Louis.
Well, I'd better go for now. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

Hi Everyone:
It seems like everytime I write, I'm in a hurry because I'm getting ready to leave for somewhere. Well, this time is no different. I'm leaving for camp in a few hours, but I wanted to write before leaving. Alyssa, Dom, and I fly to Houston. We will arrive back in Cincinnati Wednesday night.
New Zealand was a really great experience. Vanessa, Marie and I roomed together for the first couple of days, but since the rooms were quite small, Amy and I moved into another room a few days later. We all had a really good time. We didn't do any sightseeing, but from what I did see, New Zealand looked like a really beautiful country. The people were really nice. Of course, the best thing about the trip was the team "gold" we brought back home with us.
I forgot to tell you some really important news the last time I wrote. About a week before leaving for the April camp, I got a new puppy. We got it from the Humane Society. She's a Red Tick Coonhound. She was 4 months old when we got her. She's really cute, but has so much energy. I'll try to get a picture of her on the website. We named her Duchess. My dad said if we get anymore pets they're going to be fish.
I've been home about two weeks and have been really busy with training. It's a fun busy though. As I'm sure many of you know, working hard and staying busy while working toward a goal makes everything you do more enjoyable and worthwhile. Last weekend, my family and I went to Dayton to see the Aviation Museum. That was a lot of fun and very educational. The Wright brothers were from Dayton. They had a replica of their first plane and everything up to present day Air Force jets. It was really neat. Sunday after church, we went out to eat and went to see Rules of Engagement at the theater. We're going to celebrate Mother's Day when I get back from camp. Anytime I miss a holiday, we celebrate it when I get back home.
Well, I'd better go. I have to finish packing. I'm sure I've forgotten some things I needed to tell you about. If so, I'll tell you the next time. I really enjoy writing and wish I had more time to write more often. For those of you who have written letters, I'm out of pictures, and I'm waiting for the new ones to come in.
Here's a quote that caught my eye. "A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery while on a detour."

Hi Everyone:
This will be a quick note, because Alyssa and I have to leave for "camp" in a few minutes. It was really hard packing this time. All of us have to pack for ten days of camp and for New Zealand just in case we're chosen for the "Pacific Alliance" team. It will be five days of camp and an additional five days for those chosen. There will be six team members and one alternate. Three more girls will be chosen for a meet in Brazil. That meet will be held about the same time as the "Pacific Alliance."
It's been really busy since I last talked to you. The American Heart Association had an auction recently, and one of the things they auctioned was lunch with the five elites at CGA. A little girl's father bid $450 for his daughter and four friends. We ate at the Olive Garden and Mary Lee paid for all the meals. We had a great time. This week we went to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati to visit the children. There were so many neat kids there. We also went to Aveda to have our hair done. I had mine highlighted a little more, and I really like it.
Finally, my family was able to be together last Sunday. With my travel schedule and my mother's judging (gymnastics) schedule, we've been unable to spend a whole Sunday together. It's been a long time since all of us have been able to attend church together.
At the end of April, Jennie, Sierra, Alyssa and I are doing a GK shoot in Allentown, Pennsylvania. They are so much fun to do.
I'm sorry my note is so short, but I have to leave for the airport. Remember, "Never let yesterday use up today."

Hi Everyone:
Well, the last time I wrote to you I was preparing to leave for the American Cup in Orlando. It was so exciting. The support of the spectators was just tremendous. Needless to say, Produnova was exceptional. She had a great meet. Martinez (Spain) looked good also. Tasha also had an extremely good meet. Tasha and I roomed together. I got to know her last year at the "China Dual Meet." She's really nice and fun to be around. I really felt bad about not being able to sign autographs after the meet, but I was taken away after the awards were over to meet with the press. The next day we flew out of Orlando to the "Camp."
I knew things were going to get busy this year because it's an Olympic year, but I didn't realize it was going to get quite this busy. Once again I've fallen behind in my letter writing. I get a chance to hand-write about one letter for every seven or eight letters I receive. Please understand that if you get one of my typed letters, I have read your letter thoroughly and am just responding this way so you don't have to wait forever to get a response. I just ran out of pictures and have ordered more. By the way, I want to thank those of you that send self addressed stamped envelopes. It helps when I don't have to address envelopes.
As you probably know by now, Dominique will be in the "Camp" starting in May. That's really neat, because all five of us will be in camp together. Sierra should be ready by May.
The Level 10's and the elites are going to see "Lord of the Dance" tonight (Saturday). Jennie isn't going because her dad is in town for a short visit, but the rest of the elites are meeting at Alyssa's apartment and are riding to Cincinnati together. Before the performance, we're all going to eat at the Rock Bottom Brewery. I'm really looking forward to seeing the show. My mom is so jealous. Maybe she and I can go the next time it comes to town.
I have to get ready for tonight. Remember, "Believe it! High expectations are the key to everything."

Hi Everyone:
Just a quick note before I leave for the "American Cup" in Orlando. I leave tomorrow (Thursday) Mary Lee, Terry and I fly to Cleveland on one of those airplanes that look like it's made of paper, and then to Orlando. Tasha and I compete Saturday afternoon. On Sunday we fly to Houston for the "camp". I think we come back home the following Thursday. The next day the elites at CGA fly back to Orlando for a promotion of some sort. We'll come back to Cincinnati on Saturday.
As I'm sure all of you know by now, Kim retired from gymnastics. We really miss her around CGA. She was the unofficial leader of the team. She was always there with good advise whenever you needed it. I miss her a lot, but I know she did what was best for her. Dominique has kind of filled in her place. She is very encouraging and a really nice person. It's nice having her in the gym.
All the elites, parents and coaches went out to dinner tonight and afterwards went to see the "Ice Capades" in Cincinnati. I chose not to go, because I didn't want to be up too late, since I am leaving tomorrow. In a few weeks were going to see "Lord of the Dance." I've always wanted to see that.
Well, I'd better go for now. I have to finish packing. I got a new game for my Game Boy. I should have a lot of time while in route to Orlando to try and learn how to play it. Pam sent me another really great quote. "Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved only for those who try."

Hi Everyone:
Since I last talked to you, Christmas has come and gone. I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday. My Christmas was just great. On Christmas Eve, we went to the home of friends of ours and had a wonderful dinner and played a really fun board game later. When we got home we opened our "family" gifts. On Christmas morning we opened the gifts from "Santa". Later that evening, friends of ours from Florida, that moved up here for CGA, came over for dinner and to exchange gifts. We played charades and had a great time.
New Years was exciting also. I went to a party at Kim and Chris's house. I had a really good time, but I left at about 11:00 because I wanted to welcome in the New Year with my family.
On the 2nd, Jennie, Alyssa, Sierra and I flew to Oklahoma City to do a GK (leotard company) photo shoot. The flight there was EXTREMELY turbulent. The kind of flight that makes you want to kiss the ground when you land. Once in Oklahoma City though, everything was really neat. The GK people are really nice. We were there for only one day before we flew back to Cincinnati. That flight was much better.
Yesterday and today (Saturday & Sunday), Bela and Marta were at CGA working with the elites. We had a "mock" meet on Saturday. It was very beneficial getting help from both Bela and Marta. They flew back home today.
I fly out for "Pre-Cup" in Vegas on the 13th. The competition will be on the 14th. As you probably already know, Amy Chow will be representing the USA also. Amy and I fly to Houston on Saturday for the "Training Camp" at the ranch. We'll be there until the 19th.
I almost forgot the best news of all. I got my braces off right before the GK shoot. For those of you who have had braces, you know what I mean. My dad says I should fly two feet higher with the extra weight removed from my body.
If you've written me a letter recently and haven't received a response, I promise I haven't forgotten about you. I've just been really busy with gymnastics and trying to keep up with my schoolwork. I will write when things slow down---promise.
I'd better go for now. My good friend Pam sent me a quote I'd like to share with you. "Experience is a wonderful thing; it enables you to recognize a mistake every time you repeat it." Thanks Pam.

Hi Everyone,
I leave tomorrow morning (Saturday) for the "Elite Training Camp" in Tulsa. It's a one day camp that all the elites on the national team, and others that have petitioned onto the team, will attend. The "National TOPS Training Camp" is being held in Tulsa also. Their camp started a few days ago. Mary Lee and I will be flying in earlier than my teammates. They will come in Saturday night. I'm really quite excited because I'm going to be recognized Saturday as the first "TOPS" alumni to make a World Team. I was a member of the first "National TOPS Team" in the early 90's whan I was training at Brown's in Florida. The TOPS program is really a great program for young gymnasts.
Note from Jessica: USAG was selling a tape of the first National TOPS Testing for a while. Those of you who have the 1993 version, you can see a very young Morgan and her Brown's teammates several times on the tape.
Not much has happened since I last talked to you. Everyone at CGA is healthy and working hard. I'm working on a new floor routine and have made some changes on my other events. Sevetlana Boguinskaia was here for a few days and worked with the elites. She is so nice. Brittany and I are going to driving school together. In Ohio, you have to have so many hours of professional driver's training before you can get you "real" driver's license. We'll finish with that training next week. You also must have over 50 hours of driving with an adult (parent) before you can get your license.
This is my favorite time of the year. My grandparents from Florida came up for Thanksgiving. My mom cooked a fantastic dinner and my oldest brother came to dinner with his girlfriend. It was so much fun having everyone together. I can hardly wait for Christmas. On the 15th, the elites will have their Christmas party at Mary Lee's house. We have a "secret Santa" every year and exchange presents at the party.
I'd better close and get to bed. I have to get up at 6:15 to get ready to leave for Tulsa. I hope this holiday season brings true joy and happiness to all of you. My friend Pam sent me a quote I'd like to share with you:
"How pleasant it is, at the end of the day,
No follies to have to repent;
But to reflect on the past, and be able to say,
That my time has been properly spent."Morgan
PS---Quite often I get requests for my e-mail address. I'm sorry, but my parents don't want me to give that out. Actually, I'm not on the computer that much anyway. I do all my correspondence by writing letters and do my best to keep up with my letter writing. I hope you understand.

Hi Everyone:
I just got back from Kim & Chris's wedding in Texas. It was a really neat wedding and reception. It was held at Bela's ranch. Kim was sooo beautiful in her wedding dress. Alyssa, Sierra, Jennie and I flew into Texas Thursday along with Jennie's mom and Amy (a coach at CGA). We all stayed at the ranch. Since Alyssa, Sierra and I weren't actually in the wedding, we roomed together. Sierra read a passage from the Bible during the wedding, and Alyssa sang a song. They both did great. We all had such a good time. Everytime the "city girls" (Alyssa. Seirra and me) left our room to go somewhere, we ran like crazy. "Why?" you ask. There were so many bugs we had to run to get away from them, but we even had fun when we were doing that. The "country girls/Texas girls" (Brittany, Jennie and Kim) didn't pay any attention to the little pests.
As most of you know by now, The USA finished sixth at the "World's" in China. Of course, we were all somewhat disappointed with our finish, but now we know what is required of us to move up. I am more determined than ever to improve and strive for more consistency. I really think all the USA gymnasts will show a tremendous amount of improvement during the next year. I did have a great time in China. We were gone an awful long time though. I really started missing my family. But, I was able to see the "Great Wall". We actually climbed to the top. It was probably one of the hardest things I've done in a long time. We also did a lot of shopping. On one shopping trip, I accidently left my "Polo Sport" purse (I bought it in China) in the taxi and lost my picture ID/driver's permit, makeup, sunglasses, my old purse (which was insde the other purse) and $100.00. I was so upset. Jaime's mom tried to run down the taxi, but had no luck. That was so nice of her. That was our last day of shopping, but I did get some nice things earlier.
I'd like to thank all the people out there that have sent me so many nice things. I've received stickers, a minature coffee mug with my name on it, an Obnesser t-shirt, a "Morgan White Media CD", and stationary with really pretty stamped envelopes just to name a few. Thanks so much to everyone for thinking of me.
I've got to go for now. Remember, "What appears to be the end of the road may simply be a bend in the road."

Hi Everyone:
This will have to be a real quick note because I have to finish packing, but I wanted to write before I left for China. I'm really excited about being an alternate on the World Team, but I wish it hadn't been at the expense of my teammate Alyssa. I know how it feels to have to miss a meet because of an injury. I want to thank everyone for their support during "World Trials". I really appreciate it.
We leave tomorrow for Parkette's and will train until Friday, when we leave for China. We have to take our own water and some food, because the quality of those things may be lacking somewhat. When I went to Shanghai we couldn't drink the water, and Tianjin is in a much more remote area. We have a really good team, and I think we'll do well. We come home on the 17th of October. It's the longest I've been away from my family. I'm going to miss them. A LOT!!
My mom, dad, Dustin and I went to the Florida/Kentucky football game last night. It was played in Lexington, which is about 2 hours away. It was a great game because the Gators won 38 - 10. Go Gators!!! It was my first Gator game. We all had a great time. My brother just loved it.
Well I do have to run and finish packing. Jessica sent me a quote by Aristotle that I like very much. "We are what we consistently do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit."

Hi Everyone:
Well, "Championships" are over. I had a great time in Sacramento. I happy with the way I performed. I went into the meet wanting to "hit" all my events and I did. I was also quite happy with event finals, except for the fall on beam. I was really happy for Jennie and Alyssa. They performed really well. Also, I want to congratulate Kristen for winning the meet. She has overcome a lot this past year and deserved the win.
Now I'm busy getting ready for "World Trials" in Kansas City. We leave for Missouri in about a week. This is an exciting and busy time for all of us. This should be a really good and close competition. I'm so excited because my dad and brother will be at the meet along with my mom. This will be the first meet they've been to since "Championships" last year.
We just got back from seeing "Bowfinger". It was so funny. We also saw "Sixth Sense" a few weeks ago. If you haven't seen these movies yet, you should really go see them. I want to see "Sixth Sense" again. We also bought a new car. We got a Mazda 626. It's a wine color with gold trim. Best of all, it has a CD player in it.
Again, I'm falling a little behind in my letter writing---so be patient with me. Also, I've tried to sign some guestbooks of people that have signed my guestbook and am having difficulty getting through on some of them. I don't know if it's a problem with my computer or a problem with the guestbooks. I'll keep trying.
Well, I'd better close for now. Remember, "Goals give courage. Purpose gives faith. Faith gives courage. Courage gives enthusiasm. Enthusiasm gives energy. Energy gives life. Life lifts you over the bar." This quote is from Bob Richards, an Olympic pole vaulter.

Hi Everyone:
I just wanted to get off a quick note to everyone before I left for Championships. Mary Lee, Jennie, Alyssa and I leave for Sacramento in a few hours. It makes me sad to have to leave Kim, Sierra and Brittany. As I'm sure most of you know, they are injured and will be unable to compete. It's sad because they were looking so good and were ready for this meet. After they heal, I'm sure they'll come back stronger than ever.
Once in Sacramento, we'll practice every day until AA competition on Thursday. The three of us are sharing a room, which will be fun. We did that at American Cup and ITC's. We have traveled together all season. When she can, Mary Lee gives us our choice of being together or splitting up and having a little more space. We always opt for being in the same room. We are really good for each other.
I received my closing quote from Diane Hodur (Michigan) after winning Pan Ams. Then a few days ago, I received the same card from my best friend Stephanie Ragusa (she is in Florida and we have been friends since I was 7 years old). I figured I needed to share it with you as I keep receiving it. "There is a place in the heart where thoughts become wishes and wishes become dreams. A place where anything is possible if only we believe." Thanks Diane and Stephanie.

Hi Everyone:
The last time I talked to you, my teammates and I were getting ready for PanAms in Canada. We left on the 17th (after a 6 hour delay in Cincinnati). Mary Lee, Jennie, Alyssa and I met up with Jamie, Jeanette, Erinn, their coaches and the rest of the USA delegation in North Dakota. During processing we received a lot of really neat PanAm clothing. There was a person there to do alterations so everything would fit.
We took a bus to Winnipeg on Sunday and started workouts (twice a day) on Monday. One workout would be held in the arena, and the other was held outdoors in a tent. It was sooo hot when we practiced outside. On Thursday, the opening parade for PanAms was held. That was really neat. When the USA flag was raised, there was a "moment of silence" for JFK, Jr., his wife and sister-in law. Friday morning, Mary Lee informed me I would be competing All Arounds. Throughout the week my workouts had been very consistent so I knew I had a chance to compete AA, but I was still somewhat surprised to be selected. Any of the other girls could have been selected and would have done a great job.
As I'm sure most of you know, "Team Competition" was on Saturday and we won the Silver Medal. We were a little disappointed, but we did the best we could do on that day, and Canada deserved the Gold. Jennie, Jamie and I qualified for the "All-Arounds" to be held on Monday.
"All-Arounds" were very exciting. Going into the final event I knew I was in 3rd place and had to "hit" my bars to at least keep my spot. I completed my bars and was fortunate enough to move up and win the AA title. I can't remember ever being more excited. Jennie won the Bronze---so the USA took home two medals that night. That was really neat. Mary Lee surprised me by calling my parents from her cell phone before I went up for the medal ceremony. She walked over to me and said, "Here, this is for you" and handed me the phone. Not many coaches would have thought of doing that.
"Event Finals" were Tuesday. Jamie qualified for beam, and Jennie and I qualified for bars, floor and vault. Jennie injured herself on vault and had to pull out of the rest of the meet. I was really concerned for her, but it looks like she is going to be OK. Jamie was 1st alternate on floor, so she took Jennie's place. I won the Bronze on bars and finished 4th on floor and 5th on vault. At first, I was a little discouraged with where I finished on floor, but I was extremely happy with my vault. We had to include two vaults (each from a different family). I competed a "Layout Tsuk" which I had never done before except for the one practice before the meet.
After the meet, Kathy Kelly gave all of us a beautiful silver necklace with a silver PanAm emblem pendant. Mary Lee gave me a really nice gold PanAm ring. We also celebrated Erinn's birthday with a huge yogurt birthday cake. We all left for our homes on Wednesday. The PanAms was a great experience. It was nice getting a chance to know Jamie, Jeanette and Erinn a little better. We all got along really well and had a great time together.
Since we've been home, we're all keeping busy preparing for "Nationals". Sierra and Brittany leave for "Classics" in a few days. I know they'll do very well. Saturday was "Gymnastics Day", and we all went to a local mall and signed autographs. Later that day we went to "Dave & Buster's" (I told you about this place in one of my last messages) for Jennie's birthday party. It was really cool.
Well, I'd better go. My dad and I are going on a bike ride. Here's a quote my friend Jess sent that I really like-----"One can never creep when one feels the impulse to soar." Jess tells me that's a quote from Helen Keller.

Hi Everyone,
Well, "PanAms" are just around the corner. Mary Lee, Jennie, Alyssa and I will be leaving on the 17th. We fly into Grand Forks, ND for athelete processing on the next day. The morning of the 19th, we will take a bus to Winnipeg. We'll work out each day until competition on the 24th. Five atheletes will compete per event with the lowest score dropped. "All-Arounds" will be on the 26th, and "Event Finals will consist of two sessions on the 27th. We return home on the 28th.
All the CGA elites have been working hard preparing for upcoming meets, so when we get back from Canada we have to get ready for "Nationals". Brittany, Sierra and Kim are now preparing for "Classics" in Rochester. It's an exciting and busy time.
My grandparents from Florida came for a visit and left yesterday. We had a really good time. We went shopping and played board games. My grandmother loves to play games. She really likes "Sequence." This has already been a great summer, because I've been able to see both of my grandparents.
I'll be gone for almost two weeks, so if you've written me a letter please be patient. I will answer, but it might take a little longer than usual. I'm about 40 letters behind right now. Here's a "Chinese Proverb" submitted by my friend Pam Mayer---"Those who says it cannot be done should not interrupt those doing it."

Hi Everyone,
Well, camp was really cool. We worked out everyday at 6 am, and it was really cold. I've never been so cold. We all went to Hershey Park and rode the rides. That was a lot of fun. My only regret was I didn't get to ride the horses. A few of us were going to ride the last day, but it rained really hard, and we couldn't go. If you've never been to Woodward Camp, it's worth the trip. The owners are so nice.
My family and I went to Wisconsin to visit my grandmother. She lives in Beloit. It was a short visit, because I had to get back to workouts. We left on the 24th and got back home early on the 27th. We went to Broadhead on the 26th for a family get-together at my great-grandmother's home. It was so much fun. Wisconsin is a really pretty state.
My 16th birthday was on the 27th. After my dad rested from driving, we celebrated by going to "Dave & Buster's", a huge place in Cincinnati where you can play all kinds of games and eat. I really had a good time. I won a stuffed pig and had enough tickets I had won at the games to get a teddy bear. I hit the "jackpot" on one of the games and won 350 tickets. We had enough tickets left for my brother (Dustin) to get a special glass just for his Cokes at home. You have to know my brother to realize how important that glass is to him. We went out to dinner later. I got a new 10-speed bike, clothes, a game for my Nintendo, perfume, a scented candle, personalized stationary, a big collage my dad made for me that includes pictures of my first 16 years and other goodies. It was a great day. I even drove the car into the driveway for the first time.
Last summer on of my penpals and her mother stopped by the gym to watch the elites workout. Her name is Denise Dodd. Well, they made arrangements to stop by again today, and they took me out for lunch at Bennigan's. My mother went along, and we had a really good time. Thanks Mrs. Dodd and Denise.
I also want to thank all the people that sent birthday cards and gifts. Some of the things sent to me were----stationary, really neat writing pens, hairclips, jewelery, stickers (I love stickers), foreign coins, a t-shirt, an e-mail birthday card and other things. The cards and gifts really mean a lot to me since they come from people I've been writing to. Mary Lee had a cookout last night for the elites. We celebrated my birthday then. It was a lot of fun.
I'm training hard for "PanAms". The first inner-squad is Friday. The elite "zone" is Tuesday, so we're really beginning to focus on our upcoming competitions. Three of us are going to "PanAms", and the other three are going to "US Classics.
Well, I'd better go. Remember, "Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every person has many; not on your past misfortunes, of which all people have some."

Hi Everyone:
After China I thought things would slow down a little for me and give me more time to give you updates, but I seem to be just as busy as before. I'm sure you all know what I mean, since I'm sure your life is just as hectic as mine. Better than just sitting around though---right?
Since I have a break between competitions, ML has been having me work on some new skills on a couple of my events. I don't know if they will be ready for PanAms, but I should definetly be ready by Nationals. By the way, we (Jennie, Alyssa, ML and I) will be leaving for PanAms around the 18th of July. I'm really looking forward to this meet. It should be a lot of fun.
The CGA elites leave for Woodward Camp tomorrow morning (June 13th), and we will return home on Thursday. It will be a mixture of work and fun. We all had a great time last year. My favorite thing to do there is horseback riding. I hope I get the opportunity to ride again this year. We're taking one day and going to Hershey Park. That will definetly be a lot of fun.
Well, I'm going to be 16 on the 27th of this month. I'm sooo excited. As soon as things slow down, I'll be getting my learner's pemit to drive. My dad says it's a "White family tradition" than no person is allowed to drive unless she can see over the steering wheel and reach the pedals. He thinks he's so funny. My mom and I know better though---ha-ha.
I'd better go. I have to get to the gym. ML, Kim and Jennie are gone for the weekend and will be back tomorrow in time to leave for Woodward. They're at Shannon's wedding in Oklahoma. I can't wait to ask them about the wedding.
Before I close I want to thank my friend, Pam Mayer, for helping Jess and me with the website. Jess is in Germany for a few weeks, and Pam offered her services. Pam gave me a saying I'd like to leave you with----"If you want to enlarge your life, you must first enlarge your thought of it and yourself."

Hi Everyone:
Except for the length of the flights, the China trip was the most fun I've ever had on a gymnastics trip. We had a 4 hour trip from Cincinnati to L.A. where we met up with the rest of athletes and officials going to China. We were suppose to have a 13 hour trip from L.A. to Shanghai, but for some unknown reason we had a 6 hour flight to Anchorage and then a 11 hour flight to Shanghai. Needless to say, when we arrived in China we all were ready to go to our rooms and crash. Kim and I roomed together. She is so much fun.
We trained 3 hours every day (including Friday--the day of the meet), and one night we had "hallway" training. We rode the bus to and from the arena. The roads were filled with people riding bicycles. The first time we rode the bus, we were all scared to death the bus driver was going to run over one of the bicyclist. But they all managed to survive sharing the road together. At the arena, the floor and the landing area for vault were extremely hard. The floor was setup with no springs. That was really difficult to get use to. In fact, you don't really get use to it---you just put up with it. The restrooms at the arena were something special. The toilets were in the ground, and you had to squat over them to use them.
The hotel we stayed in was very nice. There was a bowling alley in the hotel, and we all went bowling one day. Everyone thought my delivery was extremely funny. Anyway, they seemed to have a good time laughing at it. We really had a great time. The food was quite different. Not bad if you have a taste for pig tendons, eel, snake, shrimp with the eyes left in, and several other unidentifiable items that didn't smell too good. I had a piece of eel thinking it was beef. I thought it tasted kind of funny and was then informed it was eel. I didn't have anything that looked like beef again. Don't get me wrong, the food was prepared beautifully. It's just a different culture. I ate a lot of rice and food I brought with me. The women didn't try most of the food, but most of the men tried at least a little of everything.
The area was really pretty. We walked to a park that was close to the hotel. I have a really funny story I need to relate to you. All the young children in China have little flaps on the seat of their pants that unbutton when they go to the bathroom. Well, on our way back to the hotel we saw a little boy (about 5 years old) stop on the sidewalk, open his flap and do #2 right there. From what we were told, this is a common practice. I got a picture of the little boy. My dad thinks I should put it on the webpage, but I think not.
The women's meet was Friday night---not Saturday. The arena was totally packed. China had decided to limit each event to 3 competitors per team. It was a lot of fun, because it was a complete "team" effort. It's nice to have meets like that, instead of "individual" meets. We finished on floor, and the Chinese finished on vault. I was last up and was rather nervous because we knew we had a chance to win the meet if I hit my routine. I could hear the men encouraging me on, and before I started my last pass I looked toward the opposite corner of the floor, and all my teammates were jumping up & down and yelling. That was really cool. I drew strength from that to finish my last pass successfully. As you probably know by now, we won the meet. It was really neat because we competed against China's last "World" team. After the meet, we went back to our rooms and watched the whole meet on TV. An hour and a half had been allotted on TV for the meet. We think that's why the Chinese cut the competitors from 4 to 3 and allowed the judges only 25 seconds to get their scores in.
We had a full day on Saturday. In the morning, we went shopping in Shanghai. Our hotel was about an hour from downtown, so we took a bus. You wouldn't believe how inexpensive (re: cheap) everything was. You could also negotiate the price down. Mary Lee helped us with that. Downtown Shanghai was just beautiful. We had to be back to the hotel in time to get ready to support the men at their meet. They performed at 1pm. After the meet, we had a banquet. That ended about 9pm, and then we all went to the Hard Rock Cafe. We had a great time.
Mary Lee, Kim and I got up early on Sunday for a "power walk". Our flight home was that afternoon. Between the hotel and the airport, there were quite a few homes that the poorer people lived in. The condition of these homes really made you feel sad for the people, but grateful for what we have in America. Anyway, on the way to the airport, we took whatever food we had leftover from the trip and stopped the bus and gave out the food. One thing from that experience sticks in my mind. An elderly lady was sitting in front of her house. Tasha and I went up to her and gave her some food. When we were leaving, I looked back, and she had her head in her hands and was crying. That really touched me.
Our plane was 2 hours late departing. Since we had to be at the Shanghai airport 2 hours before the scheduled departure, we ended up sitting around for 4 hours. We got to L.A. about an hour before our plane to Cincinnati was to leave. We knew we had to hurry to catch that flight. The fact we sat in the plane from China for 20 minutes before we were allowed to get off made the time crunch even worse. We tried to get help from Delta employees, but nobody would help. We ran like crazy, but our tickets had been given away. To make matters worse, we were sitting at the gate when the final boarding call was announced. We had to wait about 6 hours for a flight to Las Vegas and then connect to Cincinnati. We arrived in Cincinnati around 5:30 Monday morning. Elapsed time form Shanghai to Cincinnati was about 32 hours. That's OK, because we made it home safely, and this trip was the best international trip I've ever been on. Kim, Angela, Jamie, Tasha and Audra were so much fun to be with. They are all really, really nice people. I hope we can all do it again together sometime in the future. Mary Lee was also great to travel with.
For those of you I owe a letter to---be patient. I've been so busy, but I'll get back to my writing soon.
Well I've got to get to bed. Jessica sent me a quote that I thought was really cool. "You may not be able to direct the wind, but you can adjust your sails".

Hi Everyone,
It's Monday morning (about 6:30 am), and I'm writing this on my way to the airport. Mary Lee, Kim and I leave this morning for China. We will meet the rest of the team and coaches in LA and leave for Shanghai about 1 pm. We'll be in the air for almost 14 hours. I've got my cd player and a couple of magazines, so I'm prepared. I'm really looking forward to this trip. As my mom and dad said, "Very few people ever get a chance to travel to China, so enjoy yourself." I'm going to. We've all heard horror stories about the food and water in China. I think some of the stories stem from trips to less populated areas, but we've all taken extra food just in case. I've got my cans of chicken, Cup of Soup, Steel Bars, Met-Rx Bars----you get the idea. Better safe than sorry. When I went to Columbia, we would have killed for just one of those items.
We will arrive in China about 5:45 pm on Tuesday. Kinda hard to believe. It's like loosing a day. Jamie, Angela, Tasha, Audra, Kim and I will train Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I'm really glad we have that much time to workout, because quite often the equipment is somewhat different, and this will give us a chance to get familiar with it. We compete on Saturday and fly home on Sunday. I hope I can get a few pictures. If I do, I'll have Jessica put them on the webpage.
I was training at the gym on Thursday (March 25th) when Mary Lee called from Richmond to tell me I might be flying in for the ITC's. About 4 o'clock she called back and said I had to catch a flight----that I may or may not be competing but they needed me there just in case. Jamie's back was bothering her, and they weren't sure if she would compete. At that time, Mary Lee also informed me that I would be competing at the PanAm Games. I was both excited and frantic because I had to get home, pack and get to the airport by 6:30. As you probably know, I didn't compete at ITC's. I was somewhat discouraged, but was happy Jamie was feeling better. Vanessa and I enjoyed watching the Junior and Senior meets. The USA performed extremely well.
After ITC's, some of us flew to Lansing, Michigan for a National Team Training Camp. I worked out with Kim, Angela and Tasha. I think they put us together because we were leaving for China in a few days. I'm glad they did, because I got to know Angela and Tasha better. They are extremely nice girls. It will be fun going to China with them. We got back to Cincinnati Wednesday night (March 31).
Well, we're almost at the airport so I'd better close for now. I'll write when I get back from China and let everyone know how it was. Remember, "A dream is not a goal until you write it down and put an ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) on it."

Hi Everyone,
Well, "American Cup" was a fantastic experience. I was really nervous about going since I had a really short notice about making the team. I was sooo nervous going into the meet. Mary Lee kept reassuring me I was ready, but I was still nervous. When we walked onto the floor before the competition Friday night, I became even more nervous when I saw gymnasts like Karpenko and Produnova.
Beam was my first event, and I rotated with all the USA gymnasts---except for Antolin. I was last up, and felt like I did a good routine. When I finished beam, my whole body started trembling. Even Mary Lee noticed whe she gave me a hug, but from that point on I was OK. I hit all four events and finished 7th AA and 3rd on bars. I was very very happy with my meet. The crowd was just great. I've never had so many people cheering for me to do well. They really motivated me. With my top eight finish, I qualified for AA finals on Saturday, but because of the "two per country" rule Jeanette and I weren't allowed to compete.
On Saturday, Alyssa and I watched Jennie compete and win the AA title. We were so proud of her. That night all the gymnasts (men, women & rythmic) went to Busch Gardens in Tampa. We didn't have a lot of time, but I rode on Kumba, a roller coaster. We had a great time.
Sunday was 3 on 3 competition. Jennie and Jeanette competed. Jennie's team finished 2nd. That night all the gymnasts had a pool party. We all had a really good time. We left Florida Monday morning.
"American Cup" was a really great experience for me. My next competition will be in China. We leave April 2 and return on the 12th.
Well I'd better go. Nicholle Brankston of Australia sent me a quote, and I liked it so much I thought I would pass it on. "Your life is 5% what happens to you, and 95% your attitude towards it."

Hi Everyone,
This will be a quick note to let you know what's been going on with me. I just found out today I've been added to the "American Cup" roster. I leave for St. Petersburg in about 2 hours. I'm really excited, but also extremely nervous. I will arrive late tonight and workout on the equipment tomorrow. I had to give up the Paris meet, but "American Cup" is worth it. It's probably for the best I'm not going to Paris since a week after theat meet I have to attend the "International Team Training Camp" in Michigan, and 4 days after that I leave for China. This way I'll have a break before camp starts.
"U.S. Classics" was a lot of fun. My goal was to make the "Pan-Ams", but I just missed making the team-----still I was very happy with my 7th place finish. There's nothing wrong with missing a goal, as long as you don't let it get you down and reset new goals. I was able to fly back to Ohio with my mother and we had a great time together.
Well, I have to go and get ready to leave for the airport. Remember, "The only person who never misses their goals is the person that never sets a goal."

Once again I'm sorry it's taken sooo long to get back to everyone. We've been busy at CGA getting ready for the "American Classics/PanAm Trials" in California. I am back at full workouts. We have inner-squad meets every Wednesday. They're really good for us, because the meets get us prepared for the real thing. I've got a lot of work to do, but I'm gradually catching up. We had "Zones" last Saturday. It went well for all of us. I got a chance to see my good friend, Janae Cox, at the Zones. It was nice seeing her again. I'm working on a few new skills on each of the events. I'm not sure which ones I'll be adding for "Classics".
During the last few weeks I've been interviewed by "Sports Illustrated For Kids" and "International Gymnast". It was really exciting. The March issues should carry the interviews.
I don't have much more to add. I hope everyone is having a wonderful winter. We had snow a few weeks ago, but lately our weather has been like spring. Kind of nice, but I wouldn't mind a little more snow before winter ends. Just a reminder to everyone, be sure to sign my guestbook if you haven't already. I read them all, and if you have a webpage let me know and I'll visit and sign your guestbook.
Remember, "happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely upon what you think."

December 9, 1998
Hi everyone! Well this is a very special day. Today is Jessica's birthday (Dec. 9th). "Happy Birthday" Jessica. You definetly deserve to have the best birthday ever.
Well, I got my cast off Monday. I thought I was getting it off last week, but my doctor wanted to leave it on one more week to make sure it healed properly. If you've ever had a cast, you know how great it feels to get it off. I will gradually work myself back into full workouts. I can't wait to get back into full routines. I need to start getting ready for "Classics" in February.
I want to thank all of you who participated in my online chat a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed it and hope all of you did too. Thanks again Scott.
The meet in Australia is coming up soon, and I want to wish Kristal and Ashley the best of luck. The USA couldn't have two better people representing us. I know you both will shine. I wish I could be with you. Go for the "Gold".
CGA's trainer has a new program he's starting at his business called "Boot Camp Cardio". It's a program he's initiating for his customers and starts early in the morning before they go to work. One of our local TV stations did onsite coverage of the program during the early morning news, so Kim, Ashlee, Mary Lee and I had to be there as participants. I got up at 5am to be there at 6:15. That's pretty early for me. My dad likes to say, "If God wanted us to see sunrises, he would have made them later in the day." It was fun though.
This is my favorite time of the year. I've been doing my Christmas shopping and decorating the inside and outside of the house. We put our Christmas tree up two days after Thanksgiving. The cats just love the tree. Everything looks really nice. We have a few more lights to put in the next few days, and we'll be finished with our decorating. We get four days off from workouts during Christmas. We haven't decided if we're going to stay home and celebrate or go to Wisconsin for a few days to see my mother's side of the family.
Well, I need to get ready for gym. I hope your holidays are as happy as mine. Remember, "Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go."

Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I last talked to you and a lot has happened. As I mentioned in my last message, Region 5's mini-congress was held in Chicago on the 31st, and Jenny, Kim and I attended the banquet as members of the region's all-star team. Just before leaving for Chicago, Sierra and I were informed we were voted "Athlete of the Year" for the region. So, Sierra went to Chicago also. It was quite an honor. I had to make a short speech at the banquet. I was really nervous, since I'd never talked in front of a group before. I think it went OK though. At least I didn't pass out.
Last week I worked on my new floor routine. Geza was in for a few days to work with the elites on their dance on floor. I really like my new routine and the music.
My elbow is better, but I have some bad news. I have a stress fracture on the growth plate in my left wrist. We discovered it early, so I will wear a cast for only a couple of weeks. The bad news is I won't be able to go to the meet in Australia. That's OK though. I'll have more time to get ready for the 1999 season. I'll be going Senior so I need the time to get ready.
Don't forget about the "chat" on the OutofBoundsNess webpage. It's Thursday from 7:15 to 8:00. I'm really looking forward to talking to all of you. Please join in.
Remember, "If God had meant for today to be perfect, he wouldn't have created tomorrow."

Hi Everyone! Sorry it's taken so long to write back. I've been really busy with gym and school. Even though I take classes by correspondence, I study every day and try to stay ahead. Shortly after "Nationals", most of the National Team Members went to a camp in Atlanta for a few days. It was a mixture of pleasure and work. It was fun, but it was nice to get home.
My elbow had been hurting quite a bit recently, so I went to my orthopedic doctor. He took some x-rays and wanted me to get a bone scan to check for fractures. Needless to say, I was concerned since a fracture would mean at least 3-4 months without training. The good news was the scan was negative. The bad news was I had to have a cortisone shot. I HATE shots. It wasn't too bad though. I have already started back full training.
Jennie, Kim and I were named to the Region 5 All-Star Team. We will be attending a banquet in Chicago on October 31st. That should be a lot of fun, and it's a real honor to be named to the team.
Well, there's not much more happening here. I hope everyone is enjoying the new school year. Study hard----Christmas vacation is only a few months away. Jessica recently shared a really neat quote with me , and I'd like to pass it on to everyone. "Don't go where the path may lead, but go where there is no path, and leave a trail for others to follow."

Hi everyone! Well, it's been a really exciting couple of weeks since I last talked to you. I still can't believe I won the AA at Nationals. It was such an amazing feeling to actually accomplish my goal. Not only was it great to win the AA, but I was also really happy with my individual events. Even if I wouldn't have won, I still would have been very happy because I came into the meet wanting to hit 4 for 4 at all my routines both days, and I did. Winning was just the icing on the cake.
Going into my last event (vault), I knew I was in the lead, but I didn't know by how much. I figured we were all really close in the standings. After I completed my last two vaults (which weren't the greatest vaults ever), I got off the podium and went over and hugged Mary Lee. We both figured I had lost the title. I went into the bathroom and prayed for a top 3 finish. At this point I didn't even think I would get that. When I came out, Mary Lee said, "Congratulations! You know you're the National Champion." I almost burst into tears. It was such a wonderful feeling.
I want to thank all the fans at the meet and everyone that's e-mailed and sent letters for the encouragement. It helped. After the meet I got a chance to spend a little time with Jessica Steyers (my webmaster), Angela Unkrich and Pam Mayer. It was really nice seeing Jessica and Angela again and finally meeting Pam.
Now I'm just enjoying my week off. My friend and I went to King's Island (an amusement park in Cincinnati) last Tuesday. It was sooo much fun. I had never been on a real rollercoaster before, so I was pretty scared. But after my friend drug me on the first one, I loved it. We went on every rollercoaster in the park. It was awesome. Today is actually my last day off. I'm kind of sad my vacation is over, but at the same time, I'm happy to be getting back into the gym and seeing my teammates.
Well, I'd better be going. Remember, "Success is not a destination, it's a journey."

Hi everyone! I just wanted to write a short message before I leave for "Championships" on Monday. As a lot of you may know, I was 1st AA at "US Classics" in San Antonio. I was so excited, because this was the first big meet I've won since being an elite. I want to thank everyone that's contacted me since then with their support and encouragement. It is greatly appreciated.
I haven't been on the computer since "Classics" because I want to focus on "Championships". I hope those of you that contacted me through my e-mail will understand why I haven't responded. I'm nervous, but I know I'm ready for the meet. In fact, all of us at CGA have been working hard and staying focused. Everyone feels ready to do their best.
Well I need to get to bed and get some rest. Remember, "nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm!"

PS: After arriving home from San Antonio, I picked up my new kitten for my birthday. Her name is Kayla, and she's adorable.

Hi everyone. Well, I got back from the Jr. Pan Ams Sunday morning. It felt good to be home. I had a great time in Houston, but 8 days is a long time to be away from home.
The meet went well. Monique, Janae, Kristen and I had a great time together. Kristen and I roomed together. We went to a movie (Hope Floats) and did some shopping. I competed with Janae and Monique at ITC in Knoxville, and we all stayed together in a cabin at the "Elite Training Camp" held at Karolyi's. I got to know them even better while in Houston. They are really a lot of fun to be with, and we worked well together. Saturday night, we attended a dinner and dance along with the Jr. Men and Jr. Rhythmic Teams from all the participating countries. We all had a good time.
Now I'm busy getting ready for "Classics" in San Antonio. I leave for Texas on the 30th. After "Classics" I'll start preparing for "Championships" in Indianapolis. I'd better go. I'll talk to you all after "Classics". Remember, "Stay positive, and have only good thoughts."

Hi everyone. I just wanted to write a short note before I leave (Saturday) for the Jr. Pan Am Games. There's not much to add about the meet since my last message. Steve and I leave tomorrow morning and I train sometimes that afternoon at Cypress. Mary Lee is with Sierra at the Sr. Pacific Alliance in Canada. She will fly to Houston on Sunday and Fly out to New York, for the Goodwill Games, on Thursday evening. I will fly back to Ohio on Sunday morning and start getting ready for the US Classic the end of the month. I'll be gone a week, so I'll be a little behind on my letters. Be patient. Thanks. Well, I've got to get to bed. I have to get up really early to catch our flight. Remember, "Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the conquest of it."

Hi everyone! I've had a real exciting week and a half, but before I tell you about it, I want to thank everyone for all the birthday messages and cards. Jessica, thanks so much for organizing all the messages. It was such a wonderful surprise. All of you out there are very special people. You made my birthday extra nice. Thanks.
Well, now a little about the trip and stay at Woodward Camp. It was great! The elites took two minivans to the camp. On the way up (about a seven hour trip), I rode with Sierra, Kim and Ashley. Steve, our coach, and the level 10 coach, Mike, drove. We arrived about 1:30 Sunday afternoon. Steve took us tubing down a river shortly after we arrived. Needless to say, I fell off once, and the water was really cold. That was a lot of fun. We had conditioning from 7-9 that night. We had workouts every day from 6:30-10:00 and afternoon workouts everyday (3:30-6:30) except Wednesday and Friday. We had to start early, because the campers used the gym at the other times. While we worked out, we usually had other coaches or campers watching us.
Don't get me wrong, the camp was not all work. During our off hours, we went go-carting, rock climbing, swimming, horseback riding and played pool. Some of us also took an art class where we made pottery. Some of my teammates made awesome things, but mine was so pathetic I didn't even take it home. Oh well, I guess pottery isn't my specialty---but it was fun anyway. On Monday, Steve barbequed dinner for us several nights--which was really fun. Since we had to get up so early every morning, Steve got us a TV and VCR. We were able to watch a movie before we fell asleep. I don't think I made it thru even one movie. On Thursday, we were interviewed for Woodward's webpage and some of us did a beam clinic. We left for Ohio Friday afternoon. I rode back with Brittany, Jenny, Dana and Sierra. Steve and Mary Lee drove. If you've never been to Woodward, you really need to go. It was really fun. Even the coaches had a good time.
While I was at camp, I was told I would represent the USA at the Jr. Pan Ams in Houston. The other USA gymnasts are Kristin Thome, Monique Chang and Janae Cox. We all know each other, so it should be a lot of fun. I arrive in Houston on July 11th, and our first day of competition is July 15th at 7:30 pm. We'll compete vault and bars on the 15th and beam and floor on the 16th. Event finals will be the evening of the 17th and the afternoon of the 18th. There will be a banquet at 8:00 on saturday. I leave for home on Sunday morning. We're going for the gold!
Well I need to go for now. Remember, "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal."

Hi everyone. Well, I'm getting ready to leave for Woodward. We leave Sunday morning, the 21st, at 6am. All the elites will meet at the gym and take two vans to Pennsylvania. It's going to be a lot of fun. We will be doing our normal training, usually starting at 6:30 in the morning while the other campers are getting up and eating breakfast. At some point during the day, the campers will watch our workout. It should be especially thrilling for them to see Kim and Jennie. While the campers are workin out, we get "free" time. I plan on doing crafts and laying by the pool. Of course, I'll try horseback riding and the go-carts too. We will get back to Cincinnati around 9pm on Friday. Just in time for my birthday on Saturday. I hope my mom and dad get me another dog.
A friend from Florida, Haiya Rodriguez, is staying with us until her parents move up here around the middle of July. Haiya is 9 years old and will be training with the Level 10 group. She trained at the same gym I trained at in Florida. Her parents felt she needed more advanced training. You will all hear about her in the future.
I'm still working hard on my new skills. I feel like I'm progressing along pretty well. I've got until the end of july (Classics) to get everything perfected. I may not put everthing in until Championships in August. I'll do whatever the coaches think is best.
Well, I've got to go. I have to get up at 5am to get ready. Remember, "Pray as if everything depends on God, but work as if everything depends on you."
Morgan
PS: For all of you that write to me, I'm getting behind on my letters. I like to answer within a couple of days of receiving them, but I'm starting to get more letters, and with my schedule I'm falling behind. I promise I'll get to them when I get back from camp.
June 9, 1998
Hi everyone. Well, this is going to be an exciting and busy month. There will be a 3-day "elite traning camp & zone meet" at CGA starting this Friday. Most of the "CGA elites" will compete at this zone. We have our banquet the following week. We have a choice between spaghetti or chicken teriyaki. It will be a lot of fun. Near the end of the month we will be attending Woodward Camp. I've never been there before, so I'm really looking forward to going there. We will continue to train while we're there. And when I get home, I'll be celebrating my 15th birthday on the 27th. My family and I will do something special on that day.
Workouts are going really well. After the "zone", my focus will be on the "US Classic" in San Antonio. I'm working on a few new skills, so I always seem to have a few new bumps and bruises. All of you gymnasts out there can relate to that, I'm sure. Well, I have to go. I'm taking part of the "California Achievement Test" for school tonight.
Remember, "Never......never...... never......never quit!"

Karolyi's Camp Sierra Sapunar, Jennie Thompson and I left for camp on Thursday, May 14th. We arrived at about 5:00 PM and took an hour and a half drive in a school bus to the ranch. I stayed in a cabin with the 8 other "Juniors". The 14 "Seniors" that went were split into two cabins. It was my ffirst time staying in a cabin, so it was a different experience for me. The ranch is located in the middle of the woods (so there were a lot of bugs). Bela has 2 lakes located on the ranch, and he owns many animals---like horses, deer, llama and ostrich. Seeing all those different animals was really neat.
Training went really well. We trained every morning from 8:30-12:00 and then back from 4:00-7:00. We had lectures in the evening. The last night, instead of lectures, we had a cookout on one of the lakes. I was really fun. Jennie, Sierra and I even went paddle boating on the lake.
After Sunday morning's training, we had some free time before our flight home. Jennie's mom took us shopping (she lives in Texas). We had some difficulty with our flights. We ended up getting home at 1:00 AM on Monday. We were all pretty tired and happy to get home. Yet, it was an enjoyable experience.
Remember, "Character is what you know you are, not what others think you are."

Hi everyone! I'm doing really well. I leave for Houston, Texas on Thursday the 14th. I'll be going to a camp at Karolyi's Ranch. USA Gymnastics selected a few seniors and juniors to attend. My teammates Jennie Thompson, Brittany Smith, Kristy Powell and Sierra Sapunar will also be going. It's really nice to have teammates to travel with. It makes the trip a lot more enjoyable.
Training has been going great. I'm really excited because my vaults are improving rapidly. Last season I had a 9.3 start value on vault and now I'm working toward a 9.8, so that's a really big step for me. Our schedule just changed a couple of weeks ago. We now go 8:00-10:00 and then back from 12:00-5:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday and Thursday, we go from 11:00-5:00 and on Saturday from 8:00-1:00. It's a pretty intense schedule, but all very much worth it. The schedule changes were a little hard for my body to get used to at first, but now that I've been doing it for a couple of weeks, I've grown accustom to it.
Well, I have to get ready for gym. Remember to set short-term and long-term goals. Put a date on those goals, and write them down so you can see them every day. If you come up short, you haven't failed. The only way you fail is if you don't reset that goal. "Goals are set in concrete---the date is set in sand".

My Experience at ITC I really enjoyed my experience at "International Team Championships". We arrived Thursday at around 12:00 noon and went to training shortly after that. It was pretty crowded that day because the Juniors and Seniors from all three countries were training at the same time. We also trained twice on Friday. Training went really well both days, and we felt confident going into the meet.
Altogether I feel like I had a really good meet, minus a mistake on beam. The rest of the team also competed really well--with just a few mistakes. Even though we didn't win, we were very pleased with our silver medal, because we worked really well together as a team. I couldn't have asked for a better group of athletes to compete with.
We also had a lot of fun when we weren't training or competing. We had a great time in the hotel and at the banquet. It was the most fun international meet I've been to so far!
Remember, "keep working hard and don't lose sight of your dreams".

Morgan Will be competing this weekend in the International Team Championships in Knoxville, TN. Ever wanted to know what an elite gymnast felt like going into a meet??? Here is what Morgan is thinking right now....
"I'm a little nervous going into this meet. I know I'll be more nervous when I actually get there, but I have been training really well and I feel confident."
Come back to the website next week to see Morgan's results, photos, comments, and more.
Dear Everyone,
First of all I want to thank my friend, Jessica Steyers, for all the hard work she's gone through to set up this web page. I'm new at this, but I'll try to do my part, along with Jessica's help, to make this an interesting web page.
As some of you may already know, my family and I moved to the Cincinnati area (from Florida) in January. I now workout at Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy (CGA). I love it there. Gymnastics is so much more fun now that I have teammates to workout and go to competitions with. And the coaches are so positive and supportive. Three days a week, I do cardio and weights from 7:30 in the morning until 9:00. During the 5 weekdays, I workout from 12:00 to 5:00 and on Saturdays I train from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Besides my mother and my dad, I have two older brothers. My oldest brother, Dylan, works and goes to college in Florida. My youngest brother, Dustin, is in high school. The rest of my family consists of a dog (Oliver) and a cat (Neiko).
Well, I have to get ready for gym. I will be writing again later. See you all at a competition soon. Remember, "picture yourself being successful".
